...then why can't we? They're finally here! I've got a couple of pouches for sale now at my etsy shop. Check out some photos of the new pouches that I made. I think they turned out really nicely and would make great change purses, cell phone holders, business card holders, etc. I hope you like them! Let me know what you think, they're still a work in progress.

Cloudy Skies
Doesn't this view from my front porch just make you want to stay in bed all day, curled up with a nice book? That's pretty much how I'm feeling this morning.

Getting Over Crafters Block
I have to admit, I never really thought I would get crafters block. But here I am, it's been about two weeks and I just haven't been able to make anything. Sounds odd, since I normally can't wait to get home from work and plop down on the couch with my knitting, or in front of the sewing machine, or even get in the kitchen, preheat the oven and whip up some kind of batter. I have been baking a bit, so I guess I haven't been completely blocked (mmm, banana chocolate chip muffins, almond horn cookies, mmm). But still, when it comes to knitting and sewing, I have to admit I've been at a total loss.
Well, I think I may be past it. I went to one of my favorite stores yesterday- Crafty Planet- and bought some really beautiful fabric scraps, a bunch of thread and a new book that I'm so excited to get into- Sew U by Wendy Mullin. It's got some really beautiful clothing patterns that I can't wait to try. I also got another book in the mail- You Grow Girl- which I'm hoping will prepare me for my first ever garden! Yes that's right, this city girl whose mom kills almost every plant she comes in contact with (I still love you mom) is finally taking the big step from houseplants to a full-fledged garden plot! I'm a little nervous, but I'm hoping with some of the tips from this book and the amazing advice that I've already started getting from my fellow community gardeners over at Columbus Gardens in South Mpls, I will have a successful first garden. Be prepared to hear and see all about it over the next few months!
In addition to these great books and an inspiring trip over to Crafty Planet, I've also finally finished a big custom order for a good friend of my mom's. I'm really excited about how some of these turned out, and I think having this order really helped me get through my first bout with crafters block. Check out some of these neat designs I came up with...

Another One...
I'm getting a little addicted to the treasury. But thanks to thegarbagegoose for picking my "hi there balloon card" This treasury is already expired :(. But you can see the whole list here:
If you hurry- you can see my list here. I'm highlighting new etsy sellers (who've joined since the beginning of 2007). Hopefully some of them will get some sales out of my choices. There are so many great sellers out there- it's always fun to find new ones!

Product Development
So I've been working on some new ideas. They're not quite perfected yet, so any comments or suggestions that any of you out there in blogger-land have would be much appreciated!
I realized after sewing onto paper and cardstock for so long, it's taking a little bit of adjusting to work with just fabric again. I'm trying to keep in mind that it's only been a little over a year since I first got my sewing machine and before that I had never even used one. So I'm still a newbie to all this.
Well folks... you heard it here first. This is the beginning of new products by minecreations. As I said, I'm still working on the design so none of these are for sale yet. But believe you me, you'll be the first to know...

I just love these little pouches though. I've seen lots of them on etsy and I've actually gotten a few as gifts recently from friends. I thought it would be cool to use some of the designs that I've been using recently for my cards on these pouches. They definitely need some technical improvement to make them sturdier and more functional (in terms of size and shape, etc.) but I think they're coming along pretty nicely. I already sent the top one off to a friend for a birthday present, so someone's enjoying these already! Let me know what you all think!

Snow Day!
When I moved to Minnesota from Berkeley, CA let's just say that almost everyone I talked to told me I was crazy and asked "but why?" And now that it's winter here in MN and a couple weeks ago we went over 100 hours without getting the temperature above zero, even more people are asking me if I'm missing the sunny Bay Area (although I must say, it's not very sunny there this time of year). But when was the last time, may I ask all those naysayers, was the last time they had a snow day from work??? Well, I'm sure all my friends in California are hard at work, while I sit here in my pajamas. Sure I've had to shovel the sidewalk a few times, but I think it's worth it. And here's an idea of how I'm going to spend my lovely day off from work...

Although I do love my day job, I think I'd rather spend any day in front of my sewing machine than the computer (well, the work computer, I know I'm on the computer right now) or maybe working my way through this box of awesome yarn that I just got from my mom. (Isn't it great having a mom who's a worse yarn addict than I am? Thanks mom! Plus all her yarn-addicted friends too!)
Well, I hope you're all having as lovely a day as I am, even if you're not snowed in...
