bits of our lately

my days lately have been a mixture of agonizingly slow (i won't deny that a couple of times, i have actually looked at the clock to see how long until jared gets home) and insanely fast (wondering how three and a half weeks have already gone by since ethan arrived).

mostly, he has been a pretty easy baby...though i have had my moments of feeling completely overwhelmed. but i know we are incredibly lucky. he usually only cries when he is hungry, and he is healthy and happy (if only i could capture one of his amazing baby smiles in a photo!) and so are we. we are seriously so in love.

this is the munari mobile that i made for ethan (using this tutorial) before he was born. he was focusing on it starting at around three days. pretty incredible.

i am trying to get into a little bit of a routine...can i get other things done while he is sleeping? what do i even want to get done? i had told myself that i would finish his baby quilt before i go back to work in late october, thinking that i'd have loads of time during my leave, and yet i still haven't even washed the fabric. days pass and i'm not sure what i have accomplished except feeding ethan (a big accomplishment, to be sure). oh, and ridiculous amounts of laundry of course.

mostly, everything is just really slow. i have gotten used to this and am learning to let go of a lot (ahem, my garden, ahem). this has happened naturally and i don't even feel like i'm having to force myself to slow down or give up certain things. of course, this makes me terrified for when i have to go back to work and no longer have the luxury of moving around so slowly. but, i know so much will change in the next two months (both us and him).

we are happy.
