friday happymaking

If I've learned anything from this wonderful online community that I feel lucky to call myself a part of (and I've learned a lot), it's been to notice the small beauty around me. It's been a long few weeks (well, months, really) around these parts. But amidst the stress at work and craziness at home, there have been many many moments of happiness. Here are just a few that I'm noticing this week...

:: arriving at my community garden just to check up on things, and leaving with a huge handful of ripe strawberries from my plot.
:: pretty flowers that I planted in front of our house.
:: catching up with old friends, and meeting new ones.
:: unexpected mail (especially when it comes in the form of an awesome mix cd)
:: laughing hysterically with my boss, even (or maybe, especially) in the midst of stressful situations, like making budgets when things aren't looking so good.
:: surprising a co-worker by buying her lunch when she didn't have the money.
:: sitting by the fire in the backyard with Jared.
:: watching my garden grow like crazy (almost everything is sprouting! i have teeny green tomatoes on my cherry tomato plant!).
:: the smell of fresh rain on a warm afternoon.
:: picking up a roll of film.
:: catching a glimpse of my few grey hairs in the mirror. i know it sounds crazy, but that little bit of silver looks like jewelry in my dark brown hair :)

Well, clearly I have a lot to be happy about these days. Something important to remember when things don't seem so great. What's making you happy this week?

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
