hello friends!
so i told you i'd be back here this week with an exciting giveaway, and i do not disappoint. i'm psyched to be partnering up with renee of wolfie and the sneak to giveaway one of her awesome four seasons posters to one of my readers. i had been in love with renee's seasons posters, but could never decide which one i liked best, and then [genius that she is] she combined them all into one beautiful piece that i am so happy is now hanging in my kitchen where i can look at it everyday and be reminded of all the delicious and beautiful food i should be eating.
if you all aren't already familiar with the wolfie and the sneak blog, you should be. renee writes about gardening, composting, family life, and just life in general. and her illustrations are kickass. i mentioned this earlier in the spring, but i first came across her on flickr years ago and then somehow lost track of her work. i'm so happy to have rediscovered her this year and i love checking out her blog for tips, thought provoking words, and some laughs.
and be sure to check out the wolfie and the sneak shop for other beautiful prints, and even handmade pinhole cameras! and, for the month of august renee is donating all proceeds from print sales to her aunt's cancer treatments, so if you're thinking of supporting her shop, now's the time.
soooo. just leave a comment here by midnight next wednesday (8/17) telling me what is your favorite fresh seasonal produce to eat. bonus points [not really] if you grow it yourself! i'll pick a random winner next week when i get back from sunny california. [fine print: this giveaway is limited to the US and Canada only, sorry!!]

that poster is great! i'm crazy for berries when they come in season in july - blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries. so good. someday i'll have raspberry bushes!
ReplyDeleteI am crazy about asparagus but haven't lived in any one place in my adult life long enough to grow it myself (it takes 3 years to mature). However, I do grow my own tomatoes and they are another favorite!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite local produce is butter beans. Kinda crazy expensive since you're paying someone to pick and shell them by hand and keep them cold, but I'd miss my summer trip if I ever moved away.
ReplyDeleteanother jenna :)
ReplyDeleteright now, i am so craving greens. it is HOT here. i dream of arugula, spinach, kale, chard, baby tender mustard greens. they will be here, with the cooler fall weather.
I have to say tomatoes. They taste better than any other veggie or fruit when they are in season. I picked my first one on Sunday and ate like an apple with some sea salt and cracked pepper. YUM!

ReplyDeletewhy is this so good? it's really good.
ReplyDelete(i like it all. minus squash. why can't i get into autumn squash?)
That poster is gorgeous! I'm a huge fan of seasonal produce in general, but fresh tomato season is the best. Tomatoes are one of the only things I successfully grow, too. I guess they sense my love.
ReplyDeletei love renee's work. such a great poster!
ReplyDeleteI met Renee at Koinonia Farm when she was a student in our first Permaculture Design Course. We would be honored to have her poster hanging in our dining hall.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite produce is Asian persimmon. We have several trees here, and when they fruit in the fall I can eat them by the dozen!
no question
ReplyDeletetomatoes are my favourite.
our spring / summer have been wet and uninspiring.
so I didn't plant any this year - only lettuce.
last year I had a bumper crop and was eating tomatoes well into september.
Woohoo! I love this poster. I would have to say my new favorite (at least right now, during this very pregnant summer) is the local cantaloupe. I never liked cantaloupe before but the fresh ones from the farmers market here are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love blood oranges! They're just different and more tart in my opinion than normal oranges. They're quite seasonal and rare here for some reason, but once I find them, it's all over. I'll be walking out the farmer's market with like 5 lbs of them!
ReplyDeletegreen zebra tomatoes have to be my favorite! i love love love this poster too, thank you. xo patti
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I'd say peaches. We just moved to a farm with an little peach grove, does that count? ;) I really do want this poster, been eyeing it on Renee's blog this last week. Come on luck!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite seasonal produce... Cherries!! I seriously cannot get enough of them; I could easily go through a couple of pounds in a sitting *redintheface*

Tomatoes are one of the few vegetables that are a rich source of lycopene. It also plays a role in maintaining eye health.
