a few things about stockholm...

:: bike rush hour is intense.
:: pretty much everyone speaks perfect english, so you don't have to feel too much like a fool for only knowing how to say "hej" and "tack" (hi and thanks)
:: the pastries are a.maz.ing. go ahead, have one everyday. you're on vacation. also, even the bad coffee is good. (and the good coffee is amazing)
:: some things are so picturesque that you actually feel like you're in a storybook.
:: outdoor cafes have blankets for when you get cold.
:: don't be discouraged if it's downpouring, it will probably be sunny and warm in an hour or two.

some of the places that we went and loved:
:: djurgarden. the whole island is a park and it's beautiful. rent bikes (there is a city bikeshare program) and just bike around. get past the touristy stuff. find rosendals tradgard. chelsea recommended it to me and then i forgot about it. we happened upon it and it was such a fun surprise. i only wish it had been open. it is a beautiful beautiful garden. also on djurgarden, the vasa museum is pretty cool, even if you don't think you're into old ships.

:: fotografiska (the photography museum). it's a beautiful little museum (we saw an exhibit on olympic photography and a huge exhibit on sally mann) and the cafe on the top floor is amazing. the view of the city is incredible and they have delicious chocolate cake.

::also for great views and a nice beer (if it's good weather) is the soder teatern on sodermalm (that's where we stayed). it's a theater, but there's an outdoor cafe right next to it with some different beer vendors.

:: gamla stan (the old city) is definitely worth checking out. don't walk down the touristy street. it's also nice and romantic at night when all the cobblestone streets are lit up.

:: i dragged jared to the swedish hasbeen store and bought myself some super awesome clog sandals. just sayin'

:: you're also going to want to take a day and visit some of the archipelago, but that's for the next post.

i brought four cameras with me on this trip: my digital nikon d3100, lomo lc-a, yashica mat124, and polaroid spectra. these are a mix of photos from all of those cameras.  these are just a few of my favorites of the favorites from stockholm, find more photos are on flickr.
