for you

So...today is my birthday. Since I already told you way more than you ever wanted to know about me last year, I don't feel that I need to do that again this year. And I'm not going to write twenty-seven things that I want to do during this, my twenty-seventh year on this earth. In fact, I don't even know that I'm going to write a fall manifesto. This season, I'm feeling the need to be manifesto-less. To just go with what I have in front of me. And believe, what's in front of me is quite a lot right now.

Instead, this year, I thought I'd offer you all a little thank you. You see, over these past few years of blogging, I've been fortunate enough to meet some truly incredible people, people who I now consider to be true friends. A few months ago, I acquired a new pen pal. It's funny how many letters I've written to people I've met over the internet. Shanna is such an inspiration to me. Her posts are always insightful and thought-provoking. Her words dig deep and her photographs and drawings are simply beautiful. She has a sweetie pie puppy (who I happen to think would be great friends with my own sweetie pie puppy). And, perhaps most importantly, she shares my deep love for the season we've just entered:: fall.

I wrote a little bit last week about my love for fall. But really, it's the hot cereal, the tea, the tights and boots, the sweaters and hats and scarves, the crisp mornings, the layers upon layers, the bundling up and the cozying up. In truth, I'm really a homebody. And fall allows you to be just that. It is the perfect excuse for me to be who I really always want to be. A putterer.

And so, in thanks to all of you, and all of the inspiration that I find in this community every single day. And, of course, in celebration of the greatest season of the year. Shanna and I have made you all a little treat. Something to keep you company during all those hours spent on the computer. It's a desktop wallpaper calendar! Just click on the image above to open it in a new window, then click once more to enlarge it and then right-click or control-click to save the photo on your computer and set it as your desktop on your computer, and it'll keep you company all fall long. Enjoy!

PS: I've got a new fall banner up too, for those of you reading this in a reader...check it out!

  8. i totally get the puttering at home thing and thus don't often really get "dressed up". But, today, in your honor, i'm going to change to skirt, tights, and boots!

    again, happy birthday, julia.
